White Screen

A full-screen pure white (and other solid colors) — for lighting, dead pixel checks and screen cleaning, right in the browser.

Fill your whole screen with a pure, solid color in one click — white, black, red, green, blue and more. Handy as a soft light source, a background to hunt for dead or stuck pixels, a plain backdrop for photos and video, or to check screen cleaning and backlight bleed. No install, runs right in the browser.

Tip: click the screen or use the arrow keys to switch color, and press ESC to exit. Works best in full screen at 100% brightness.

Black Screen

Recommended Content

Press Open full screen and your whole display turns pure white (#FFFFFF), with the address bar and taskbar hidden wherever the browser allows it. Turn the brightness all the way up and you get a soft, even light: a quick fill light for a video call, a stand-in for a small softbox when shooting a product up close, or a bright panel that shows dust and smudges while you wipe the monitor. How bright it gets and its color temperature depend on your display, so it won't replace a real studio light.

White is also the best background for spotting dead pixels, which show up as tiny black dots. Click or tap the screen to cycle through 9 solid colors: white, black, red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow and gray. Black reveals stuck pixels that stay lit and backlight bleed in a dark room; red, green and blue expose a faulty subpixel; gray makes uneven brightness easier to see. On a keyboard, → ↑ or Space moves forward, ← ↓ goes back and ESC exits, and the on-screen labels fade after about 2.5 seconds so nothing covers the panel.

It all runs in the browser with nothing to download. Handy when checking a used monitor or phone before you buy, after cleaning a screen, or whenever you just need a blank white screen.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. How do I make my screen completely white?

    A. Press Open full screen: the page fills the display with pure white (#FFFFFF) and switches the browser to full screen. Press ESC or the Exit button to leave.

  • Q. Can I use a white screen as a light?

    A. Yes. At maximum brightness it works as a soft fill light for video calls or close-up product shots. It is dimmer than a ring light or softbox, and its color temperature depends on your display.

  • Q. How do I check for dead pixels with it?

    A. Look for tiny black dots on the white screen; those are dead pixels. Then switch to black, red, green and blue: a dot that stays lit is a stuck pixel, which the Pixel Fix tool may help with. Dead pixels can't be fixed by software.

  • Q. Why do I still see the address bar on my phone?

    A. Some mobile browsers, including Safari on iPhone, don't let web pages enter true full screen. The color still fills the entire visible area.
