Reading notes
- Firefox and Safari coalesce (bundle) pointer events, so the measured rate is often capped near your display's refresh rate (e.g. 60–144 Hz) even on a fast mouse. Chrome/Edge report the truest rate.
- 4K and 8K Hz mice can exceed what the browser's event pipeline (tied to requestAnimationFrame) can surface — the reading may plateau below the mouse's rated rate.
- USB and CPU load, battery-saver modes on wireless mice, and other tabs can all lower the measured rate. This is an in-browser estimate, not a lab measurement.
