The Verbal Memory Test is a word-recognition game: words appear one at a time, and you decide whether each one has already shown up this round (SEEN) or is appearing for the first time (NEW). Words are drawn in random order from a list of 50 everyday English nouns, and earlier words keep coming back mixed in with new ones. Each right answer scores a point, each mistake costs one of your 3 lives, and the round ends when your lives run out or all 50 words have appeared. There's no timer, so you can take a moment to think. Post your best on the global and country leaderboards or send it to a friend as a challenge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How does the verbal memory test work?
A. Words appear one at a time. Tap SEEN if the word already came up this round, or NEW if it's the first time. Words come in random order from a list of 50 everyday English nouns, and earlier words are mixed back in.
Q. How is the score counted and when does the game end?
A. Every correct answer is worth one point, including repeats you correctly mark as SEEN. A mistake costs one of your 3 lives, and the round ends when you lose all three or when all 50 words have appeared. There's no time limit.
Q. What's a good score?
A. This game's grades are S for 60 or more, A for 45–59, B for 30–44, C for 15–29 and D for 14 or fewer. They're the site's own bands, not an average of other players.
