Memory Card Game

Flip two cards, find the pairs and beat the clock.

How to Play

  • Press Start: every card is dealt face down and the stage timer starts right away.
  • Flip two cards at a time to find matching pictures. A pair is worth up to 100 points, minus 5 for each earlier miss with those cards.
  • Clear every pair before time runs out to reach a bigger board. When the timer hits zero, the game is over.

Memory Card Game is the classic face-down matching game, also known as Concentration, Pairs or Match Up. Every card starts hidden, you turn over two at a time, and a pair stays open only when both pictures match. There is no preview at the start, so everything you know about the board comes from the cards you have already flipped.

Scoring rewards accuracy. Each pair is worth 100 points, minus 5 for every earlier failed flip that involved either of those two cards, and never less than 5. Finishing fast adds no points by itself, but every stage has its own countdown: clear the board in time and you move on, let it reach zero and the run is over.

The first stage is 8 cards (4 pairs) in 30 seconds. Boards grow to 40 cards (20 pairs on a 5×8 grid) with a 2-minute limit by stage 8. After that the card count stays high while the clock gets shorter, and from stage 17 every board is 40 cards in 70 seconds, for as long as you can keep going.

It helps to read the board as a grid and remember cards by row and column. When you turn over a picture you have seen before, go straight for its partner; when it is new, use your second flip on another unseen card to learn more of the board. Your score and stage go to the all-time, daily, weekly and monthly rankings, and a challenge link lets a friend play the same rules and try to beat you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. How do you play the memory card game?

    A. Turn over two face-down cards at a time. If the pictures match, the pair stays face up; if not, both flip back after a moment. Clear every pair before the stage timer runs out.

  • Q. How is the score calculated?

    A. Each matched pair earns 100 points, minus 5 for every earlier miss involving either card, with a minimum of 5 per pair. Time left on the clock is not converted into points.

  • Q. How many cards and how much time does each stage have?

    A. Stage 1 has 8 cards and 30 seconds. Boards grow to 40 cards with 2 minutes by stage 8, then the limit shrinks until it settles at 70 seconds from stage 17 onward.

  • Q. When does the game end?

    A. Only when a stage timer reaches zero. Your score and the stage you reached are saved to the rankings, and your personal best is kept in this browser.
