Group Four is a daily word-grouping puzzle. Sixteen shuffled words hide four themes, and you sort them into four groups of four. Pick four words and submit; if three of them belong together, you'll see a "One away!" hint. The fourth mistake ends the game and reveals the remaining groups. Group colors show difficulty, from yellow (easiest) through green and blue to purple (trickiest), and a few words are planted to look like they fit somewhere else.

The puzzle changes at midnight on your device's clock, so everyone playing on the same date gets the same board. Puzzles come from a hand-written set of 30 English boards that rotate in a shuffled order. Games played, win rate and streak are saved in your browser, counting your first game of each day. When you finish, share an emoji grid of your guesses or send a challenge link to see who solves it with fewer mistakes.

Group Four is an independent Giggleus game. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by The New York Times or its Connections puzzle, and our boards are our own.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. How do you play Group Four?

    A. Pick four words you think share a theme and submit them. Solve all four groups of four before your fourth mistake to win; if three of your four picks match, the game tells you you're one away.

  • Q. Is Group Four the same as NYT Connections?

    A. No. Group Four is Giggleus' own word-grouping game and has no connection to The New York Times. We write the puzzles ourselves, so they won't match the NYT board.

  • Q. When does a new puzzle come out?

    A. At midnight on your device's clock. Everyone on the same calendar date gets the same board, drawn from a rotating set of 30 puzzles.

  • Q. What do the group colors mean?

    A. They show difficulty: yellow is the most straightforward group and purple the trickiest, with green and blue in between.
