Alien Formation Shooter
Steer one starfighter against a diving alien swarm. It fires on its own, and enemies shot mid-dive score double.
How to play
- Drag across the play area, move the mouse, or press ←/→ or A/D to steer. Your fighter fires on its own.
- Enemies leave the formation one by one, dive toward you and fire two aimed shots. Hit one mid-dive for double points.
- Bees are worth 50, butterflies 80 and bosses 150, and every enemy falls to a single shot. Clear all 36 to reach the next stage.
- You have 3 lives and blink safe for 2 seconds after a hit. Each stage sends dives more often and faster.

Alien Formation Shooter is a free browser game in the style of Galaga, the 1981 Namco arcade classic: a swarm of alien bugs lines up across the top of the screen, peels off in curving dives, and you hold the bottom with a single starfighter. It is an independent Giggleus game, not affiliated with or endorsed by Bandai Namco, which owns the Galaga name, and it plays on PC and phone without an install.
Steer by dragging a finger across the play area, moving the mouse, or pressing ←/→ or A/D. Your ship fires on its own, about three to four shots a second, so all you do is move. Each wave is 36 enemies: 4 bosses, 16 butterflies and 16 bees. Enemies sitting in formation never shoot. Instead they break away one at a time, swerve down toward where you are and fire two aimed shots on the way. A diver that misses flies off the bottom and slides back into formation from the top, and flying into one costs you a life just like a bullet does.
Bees are worth 50 points, butterflies 80 and bosses 150, and everything goes down in one hit. Shoot an enemy while it is diving and the points double, so a diving boss pays 300. Clear all 36 to start the next stage. There is no clear bonus and the stages never run out, but they get harder: on stage 1 a dive starts every 2.6 seconds, by stage 8 it is every 0.85 seconds, and up to four enemies can be diving at once from stage 7. Dives and enemy bullets speed up too.
You get 3 lives and no extra ones. After a hit your ship blinks for 2 seconds and cannot be hit again. The original arcade game's tractor beam, captured-ship dual fighter and bonus challenging stages are not part of this version. Your best score goes on the leaderboard, and a challenge link lets a friend try to beat it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is this the official Galaga?
A. No. It is an independent Giggleus game inspired by Namco's 1981 arcade shooter and is not affiliated with Bandai Namco. It also leaves out the tractor beam, the captured-ship dual fighter and the bonus challenging stages.
Q. How do you control the ship?
A. Drag a finger across the play area, move the mouse, or use ←/→ or A/D. The ship fires automatically about three to four times a second, so you only steer.
Q. How many points is each enemy worth?
A. Bees are worth 50, butterflies 80 and bosses 150, and every enemy falls to one shot. Hitting an enemy while it dives doubles the points, so a diving boss is worth 300.
Q. How many lives do you get, and does it get harder?
A. You get 3 lives and no extra ones, with 2 seconds of invulnerability after each hit. Every stage brings more frequent and faster dives, up to four divers at once from stage 7.
