A free online piano you play right in the browser, with no download and no sign-up. The keyboard shows two octaves at once (14 white and 10 black keys) and starts at middle C (C4). Click or tap the keys, or play on your computer keyboard: A S D F G H J K are the white keys from C up to the next C, and W E T Y U are the black keys. Hold a key and the note keeps sounding; press several together and you get a chord.

The − / + buttons move the keyboard from C1 up to C6, so you can reach any note between C1 and B7. Turn on the labels to see each note name (C, D, E… with an octave number) and the computer key that plays it — handy for picking out a melody by ear, warming up your fingers or showing a kid where middle C is. There is no score and no timer, it is just an instrument. The sound is a simple tone synthesized in your browser rather than a recorded grand piano, and there is no recording feature. When you want to test your ears, try the perfect pitch, rhythm, tone-deaf and hearing-age tests next.
