Spacebar Counter (KPS)
How many times can you hit the spacebar in 5 seconds? Measure your KPS and climb the global ranking.
How to play
- Press Start, then hit the spacebar on a keyboard or tap the pad on a touchscreen — the 5-second timer starts with your first press.
- Each press counts once: holding the key down adds nothing, and mouse clicks on the pad are ignored.
- Score: KPS = total presses ÷ 5, shown to two decimals. 9 KPS or more earns Spacebar Destroyer!

The Giggleus Spacebar Counter counts how many times you press the spacebar in a fixed 5-second window and turns that into KPS, key presses per second: total presses divided by 5, shown to two decimals. The timer starts on your first press, so reaction time is left out. Only real presses count. Holding the key down adds nothing, because the automatic key repeat is ignored, and mouse clicks on the pad are not counted either; for clicking speed, try the CPS test. Phones and tablets have no spacebar, so on a touchscreen you tap the pad instead, and every finger that lands on it counts.
Every result gets a tier: Spacebar Destroyer at 9 KPS or more, Thumb Machine Gun from 7, Rapid Tapper from 5.5, Steady Presser from 4 and Warming Up below that. Alternating two fingers on the bar is usually faster than drumming with one, since each finger gets a moment to reset. Your best score goes on the global leaderboard, and a challenge link lets a friend try to beat it under the same rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How is KPS calculated?
A. KPS is your total spacebar presses divided by 5. The 5-second timer starts on your first press, and the result is shown to two decimals.
Q. Does holding down the spacebar count?
A. No. The automatic repeat you get from holding a key is ignored, so only separate presses count. Mouse clicks on the pad are not counted either.
Q. What KPS do I need for the top rank?
A. 9 KPS, which is 45 presses in 5 seconds, earns Spacebar Destroyer. Thumb Machine Gun starts at 7 KPS, Rapid Tapper at 5.5 and Steady Presser at 4.
Q. Can I use the spacebar counter on a phone?
A. Yes. On a touchscreen you tap the pad instead of a spacebar, and each finger that touches it counts as one press.
